thoms-fucking-life:
hey there! love your art. i'm just messaging because it really bugs me that you used the word 'tranny'. it's a very offensive and hurtful word to use (think 'nigger'-scale offensive) so i want to suggest maybe using words such as 'androgynous' instead - i think that's what you meant anyway? i thought i'd just get in before all the angry social justice bloggers jump at your throat.
Me:

I didn’t mean “androgynous” or “transexual”, like another person suggested, I meant “transvestite”, like the man who puts on womans clothes, the more “festive” ones. Maybe I should write “drag queen”, or would it be offensive too? I thought “tranny” is a just short form of “transvestite”, is it not? English is not my native language, so some linguistic fuck ups may happen, but thank you for pointing that out.

You have potential, but you need harder and more finite lines than what you have now, the textured bits are way out of control and just blur things into nothing. Realise white is a color, and so is black. For every saturated color, choose one that's less so and more grounded in browns and blacks. Good luck.
Me:

Actually, I don’t “need harder and more finite lines”. Been there, done that. And it’s kinda boring. I’m experimenting with the “random” textured bits and brush strokes, trying out how much one can disrupt the surface, blur edges of objects and still make them “readable”. So if you expect clean cut lines - sorry, that’s not going to happen.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m trying to be conceited smartass, I just know what I want to achieve.

Oh, and black and white are not colours :)

But thank you for this message, I appreciate your wish of helping me. And you didn’t have to go anon, I wouldn’t bite your head off  ;)

Also, a few random questions, I hope you don't mind. :P I'm pretty new to digital art, I've only been doing it for a few months. What size and DPI do you do your work at? Do you use Photoshop, or some other program? Do you have bad drawing days? (Going by your gallery, I can't imagine. Your stuff is so great.) Some days I just want to give up forever and throw my computer and tablet out the window. Haha.
Me:

I hope you don’t mind that I publish this ask, because I think this may interest some of my followers as well :)

So, about your questions:

1. Usually I start with 25x35 cm 200/250 DPI, but it sometimes can get bigger or smaller.

2. I’m using Photoshop.

3. I have bad drawing days ALL the time. In my gallery there is only the stuff that I find decent enough to be published, not some horrible sketches or paintings that turned out to be a complete failure :)

4. Don’t! It sounds trivial as hell, but you shouldn’t give up. If you think that your stuff sucks - draw more. And more. And more. And try to do it everyday, so after some time it will get much better. There is no other way, you have to practice. Nobody gets skills out of nothing :)
