A children’s book based on the dialogue from BBC Sherlock’s Story of Sir Boast-a-Lot as featured in the episode “The Reichenbach Fall”. Each of its 15 pages were hand drawn by different tumblr artists to create a complete children’s story.

Artists include: reapersun, mystradedoodles, sketchlock, thebritishteapot, almond-goddess, yourebossy, sweetlittlekitty, macpye, i-am-benedicted, shycustis, nlmda,machomachi, lascocks, gracejo413, and coeykuhn.

Finals at my uni are coming, so unfortunately I’ve been neglecting my digital paintings, because I have so much other shit to do. I should probably paint me some Gandalf with Balrog and a huge “you shall not pass!” signature on it, so it would keep me motivated.

Anyway, today I decided that I need some Armitage lovin’ and made some “speed” (only 2 hours, lol) paint of him. Not Thorin, but Richard this time.

I got a bit rusty, so it’s rather sketchy and not ground breaking, but I think it looks quite alright.

Sometimes I receive those messages where somebody says stuff like “omg, your paintings are great, they make me want to quit drawing/painting, because my stuff sucks in comparison to yours” or something. I know they are supposed to be flattering, but they actually make me sad, because neither I think that my stuff is great nor I want to put anybody down. Although I’ve been through phase “that’s it, I’ll never touch a pencil again” when I saw some incredible piece of artwork on the web, but currently I prefer the attitude “that’s inspiring, it makes me want to do something as awesome as that”.

So, to all fellow painters and drawing artists, illustrators etc., who think they are not good enough and want to quit. Read this thing and memorize it :) For your own good.

Sooooooo who wants a calendar? Anybody? No? Well I made one (or rather - started one) anyway.

Some of you may remember, that last year I made a complete calendar somewhere around December, but currently I don’t really have time to make 12 calendar paintings at once, so I decided to paint one every month. Whoever “floats my boat” at given month, will be the “theme” of the following month. Shit’s free of course, but you have to print it on your own if you wish to have a physical copy.

A joyful day has come - after 10 years long wait, I could finally watch “The Hobbit” (or rather the first from three parts). I wanted this movie to happen since I first read it, but I never believed that my dreams would come true. And here we are, two weeks after the world premiere (yeah, in my country the premiere was on 25th) I could finally watch it. It was pure joy. Even though there was some confusing stuff that made me angry at the beginning (“WTF this did not happen”), but when it finally got to the stuff that actually was in the book, it was perfect. I was delighted and I just needed to paint Martin as Bilbo, so here it is.

While browsing my current paintings, you may notice, that with all this chaos, random brush strokes and all that stuff in my works I’m trying to find that moment, when one can say “this is no longer a human face, but a fucking stain”. I still think that I’m yet to find this moment, but it feels close.

My Lord Of The Rings feels are still strong after the marathon I attended to recently, so I’m making a good use of the current mood and painting all my teenage heroes. Man, it almost feels as if I was 12 again.

Sometimes good people ask me to play around with their faces and I deeply respect them for that. Because my portraits can go bonkers and not everybody can handle their face massacred this way.

What you see above is some sort of leftover from a portrait. Sometimes I “discover” things like that after removing some layers (I use far too many), it’s like digging through the history of a painting. And personally I find the said leftover far more interesting than the finished piece, so here it is.

On Friday I went to Lord Of The Rings marathon (this was kinda busy week, wasn’t it? ;)), which is something I’ve always wanted to do, but never got a chance, because no cinema in my city organises this kind of stuff. But one just has to move out to slightly bigger city and voila - dreams come true! ;)

It was awesome and I just had to paint Sean Bean again. Never painted him as Boromir though.

On Thursday I went to the “Frankenstein” screening (finally!) with Jonny Lee Miller as Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein and this happened. May happen again.

Yeah, it doesn’t exactly look like Jonny, but in this one resemblance wasn’t the priority.
